Rape Reported on UB South Campus

U-B Campus Police are warning students to be alert and aware after a rape was reported. A female freshman was walking alone, wearing headphones, on the South Campus Sunday morning when she was pulled into bushes. Authorities are reminding students to walk in groups, and use shuttles or escorts. Last week a freshman was groped on the Buffalo State College Campus.

ATV Crash Kiss North Collins Student

An ATV wreck has taken the life of a North Collins student. The North Collins School Superintendent's Office confirms that 14-year-old Collin Rinaldo died as a result of last night's accident.

Boys Lagging in State Grad Rates

Girls are graduating from high school in New York at a much higher rate than boys. Statewide in 2007, 73-point-four-percent of girls graduated after four years of high school, compared with 64-percent of boys. A state Education Department committee plans to explore ways to boost the graduation rates of Hispanic and black males. Only 41-percent of Hispanic males graduated last year, compared with 54-percent of Hispanic females. The African-American graduation rates were 44-percent for males and 57-percent for females

Fugitive Inmate Caught in WVA

The convict who fled a prison work detail in Chautauqua County last week has been caught in West Virginia. 24-year-old Lucas Hill was reportedly found hiding in the attic of his uncle's home in Neola. West Virginia State Police captured him at about 10 last night, near the Virginia border, after a stolen SUV with Pennsylvania plates was found in the area.

Two More Youths Shot in Buffalo

Two young girls were shot on Sprenger Avenue last night. Buffalo Police say the girls, possibly sisters, were standing outside their home when a car pulled up and someone started shooting. The girl's ages are said to be seven and thirteen. The older girl was hit with bird shot in the face, chest and stomach. She was taken to ECMC, where she is in serious, but stable condition. The younger girl was grazed with bird shot and taken to Women and Children's Hospital, where she is expected to recover. Mayor Byron Brown is pleading for more help from the community.

Arrest in Shooting Death of Teen

Thanks to help from the community Buffalo Police were able to make a quick arrest in the murder of a 14-year-old girl on Hagen Street. Seventeen-year-old Davon Jones was arraigned Monday on two counts of second-degree murder. A second person was arraigned on a charge of providing the gun for Jones. Jones's bail was set at 250-thousand dollars.
