Bills Fans Celebrate Big Win with Few Problems

The Bills instituted new fan behavior guidelines last week, and security was not a concern at Sunday's game at Ralph Wilson Stadium The Bills beating the Seahawks 34-10, and the Erie County Sheriff's Department reported no unusual problems with fans. Sheriff Tim Howard says there are no major policy changes this season. There were 24 arrests and 64 ejections, which are about average for a game. The Bills used a game-day hotline number, 312-8933, that fans could call during the game to report any problems.

UB Student Jumped and Beaten

A University at Buffalo student, John Ojeda, is in fair condition at ECMC after being asssaulted over the weekend just a few blocks from the south campus. Neighbors heard screaming coming from Custer Street just off Main. When police arrived they found Ojeda unconscious on the sidewalk. The beating follows two separate rapes that were reported on the campus in the last week.

Lackawanna Woman Missing

Lackawanna Police have joined the search for 21-year-old Etidal Abdullah, who disappeared from the parking lot at Sav-A-Lot store on Abbott Road Friday afternoon. Abdullah is a sophomore at Trocaire College. Her family is worried that she may have been kidnapped, and are offering a 15-thousand-dollar reward for information leading to her safe return.

Local Soldier Dies in iraq

The Department of Defense has announced the death of a soldier in Baghdad. Private First Class Patrick May, 22 years old, of Jamestown, N.Y., died Sept. 2 in Baghdad, Iraq, in a non-combat related incident. He had been part of the Division Special Troops Battalion, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), out of Fort Drum, N.Y. The incident is under investigation.

Edwards Backs Out on U-B

John Edwards informed the University at Buffalo yesterday that he will not appear September 26th for a debate with Karl Rove. U-B plans to announce a replacement from the Democratic party to join Rove. Edwards acknowledged last month that he had an affair with video producer Rielle Hunter.

Guilty Plea in Mann Act Case

A former state judge and legislator has admitted to recruiting prostitutes for events sponsored by a national fraternal organization, the Royal Order of Jesters. Seventy-three-year-old Ronald Tills of Hamburg pleaded guilty in federal court to violating the Mann Act, by taking prostitutes in a motor home to conventions in Kentucky and Pennsylvania in 2005 and 2006. He faces at least 21 months in prison. A retired Lockport Police Captain and a former law clerk have already pleaded guilty in the case.

Wilson Woman Missing

An 83-year-old woman from the Town of Wilson is missing. Police say Lucille Schurr last spoke with family members on Wednesday night. Her daughter went to her house Thursday afternoon, and was unable to locate her. Ms Schurr is partially deaf, partially blind and suffers from dementia. She is 5' tall, and weighs about 140lbs.
