HTN: WNYer Promoted to HSBC Position
A native Western New Yorker has been promoted by HSBC Bank. Andy Ireland is the new executive vice president and regional president for Upstate retail banking. He'll be based in Buffalo and will continue in his current capacities as head of premier banking and managing director of HSBC Securities. The 43-year-old joined HSBC Bank three years ago and has over 21 years experience in banking, insurance and securities.

HSBC Gains Worldwide, Loses in US
HSBC says its worldwide profits were "ahead" of last year's results, but its U.S. business was hammered by bad debts. Buffalo-based HSBC Bank USA took higher losses on home equity loan delinquencies in the third quarter of 2008.

HSBC Says Cuts Won't Affect Buffalo
HSBC Holdings, the parent of HSBC USA, has announced that it will cut eleven-hundred jobs worldwide. The company says the cuts will not impact any of HSBC's Buffalo-area employees.

HSBC Crash Still Causing Trouble
HSBC Bank's computer system crash is still causing problems. The system went down last Sunday night, and yesterday some of the eight-thousand employees of Catholic Health Systems went without direct deposit of their paychecks. The bank kept eight branches open late to deal with customer concerns.
