HTN: Lottery Plans to Install Table Games

The state Lottery is moving forward with plans for electronic gaming machines at racetrack casinos, although the state Assembly ended its session without taking up the bill. However, the Governor's lottery division is advancing its plan to bring electronic versions of 21, roulette and craps to eight racetracks across the state. Opponents question whether the Lottery has the legal authority to install the games. State officials insist they are on sound legal footing.

HTN: New York Wants to Join Powerball

New York wants to join another multi-state lottery. 32-states participate in Powerball, and the New York Lottery is expected to get the go-ahead to become number 33. New York already takes part in the 12-state Mega Millions lottery. It's expected that states could offer both games within a year.

HTN: Lottery Winner Wants to Share

A Buffalo woman is three million dollars richer thanks to a scratch-off lottery ticket. Lia Gentile struck it rich after buying a "Money, Money, Money" ticket at the B-Kwik Mart on Seneca Street. The 44-year-old immediately split the winnings with her younger sister. Gentile says she plans to save her half of the winnings.

HTN: Lottery Scratch-Off Millionaire

The latest Lottery millionaire is from Western New York, and she plans to split her 3 million dollars winnings with her sister, who now lives in Pennsylvania. Lisa Gentile bought the winning "Money Money Money" scratch-off ticket at the Bee-Quik on Seneca Street in Buffalo.

HTN: Newest Lottery Millionaire

The latest New York Lottery winner has big plans for the money. Hieu Tran is a Vietnam native and plans to go back to visit his mother with a portion of the money. The rest will go to his children's education. The 38-year-old South Buffalo resident was presented with the first installment of his winnings Tuesday afternoon by New York Lottery officials at the Noco Express Shop on South Park Avenue where he bough the "In the Money" scratch-off ticket. Tran came to the U.S. in 1987 as a teenager. His million-dollar jackpot will be paid out over 20 years, in 50-thousand-dollar installments, which is whittled down to just 34-thousand-75 dollars per payment after taxes.

Big Lottery Winner in WNY

A Cheektowaga woman was introduced yesterday as a big winner in the New York Lottery. Carolyn Blackmon hit a million-dollar jackpot on a scratch-off lottery ticket she bought at the Kwik Fill Red Apple store at Harlem Road and Cleveland Drive on Nov. 3. The million will be paid out over 20 years, about $34,000 annually after taxes. The big hit came on the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" game.
