Hometown News: Teen Boy Rescued from River
A teenage boy is in stable condition after spending more than 40-minutes in the frigid waters of the Niagara River Sunday night. A passerby noticed the boy waving his paddle from the water just west of the North Grand Island Bridge. He had apparently flipped his kayak, and was pulled to safety by members of the Niagara Falls Fire Department. The teen was taken to the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center where was treated for hypothermia.

Body ID'd Out of Niagara River
THE ERIE COUNTY MEDICAL EXAMINER HAS IDENTIFIED A BODY FOUND LAST WEEK IN THE NIAGARA RIVER. 52-YEAR-OLD EUGENE APPLEBY OF KENMORE, WHOSE CAR WAS FOUND NEAR THE SENECA NIAGARA CASINO IN NIAGARA FALLS. APPLEBY'S GIRLFRIEND REPORTED LAST MARCH THAT HE WAS DEPRESSED. OFFICIALS HAVE STILL NOT IDENTIFIED THE BODY OF A WHITE WOMAN FOUND LAST SATURDAY IN THE RIVER. THE CASES DO NOT APPEAR TO BE RELATED.
