HTN: SUNY, UB Applications Up
The faltering economy has driven a record number of students to fill out applications for SUNY schools. The influx of students has prompted the state university system to crank up admissions standards. Applications are up seven-percent at U-B. Transfer student applications have increased by eleven-percent. At current prices, the yearly cost of a SUNY school costs about 6,160-dollars. At a private college, annuaal tuition and fees are about 25,000-dollars.

Hometown News: UB Tops Local College Fundraising
The University of Buffalo raised more money last year than any other Western New York higher-education facility. A survey by the Council for Aid to Education shows that UB received 34-point-one-million dollars in contributions for fiscal year 2008. The universityhas 28-thousand full and part-time students. Canisuis College came in second with eleven-point-eight-million, and St. Bonaventure University raised ten-point-nine-million.
