City to Pay for Jersey Livery Stabilization
City officials changed their minds over the weekend, and decided to try and save an historic livery stable on Jersey Street, instead of tearing it down. The future of the building in doubt since a wall partially collapsed two weeks ago. The city has now authorized a 397-thousand-dollar contract to stabilize the structure, while searching for a new developer to repurpose the property, perhaps as condos or apartments. The city hopes to force the current owner of the building to pay for the work.
