Washington Street Tunnel Collapse

A tunnel running from the old AM&A's Building downtown, under Washington Street to an adjacent warehouse is collapsing, and that means Washington Street is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Engineers were called to the scene on Washington between East Eagle and Clinton when passersby noticed a hole in the asphalt. The street remains blocked off while officials check the roof of the old tunnel to determine its condition.
