Suicide of Ex-Marilla Official Reported

Marilla's former highway superintendent is now dead in an apparent suicide, just hours after he was sentenced in a corruption case. David Pierce was found in the bed of his pickup, parked near his family's farm. Pierce had been sentenced earlier yesterday for thefts committed while he with the town. Erie County Sheriffs said he died from a gunshot wound to the head.
