Lackawanna Mourns Student Terror Victim

An high school student from Lackawanna was among those killed yesterday in a pair of car bombings near the U.S. embassy in Yemen. 18-year-old Susan Elbaneh had traveled to Yemen over the summer to get married. Elbaneh and her new husband were at the embassy filling out paperwork that would let them move back to New York when the bombings occurred.
A Yemeni government spokesman said at least 16 people were killed in the blasts, including six attackers. A Yemeni national who worked as a guard at the embassy was among those killed, but the State Department said all American diplomatic staff were safe.
